President's Message - June 2023

With summer fast approaching, my time as President is quickly coming to an end.   I have to admit that I certainly have had an interesting four years.  The role has given me the opportunity to meet many of you at a variety of events in a variety of locations around town and in the Region.  We have met in person and virtually, a whole new experience for many of us.  Back in March 2020 we were told that he Pandemic would close things down for 2 weeks and in reality it continued for more than 2 years.  Not to be defeated we adjusted our approach and we saw a completely new way to stay social and support one another.

Shortly after assuming the role of President we hosted the National Newcomers here in town at a weekend conference.  Meeting people from across the country and promoting our town and Club was an honour. During my term in office I have been privileged to work with a number of committed women on the executive, who believe strongly in the power of our organization.

On Wednesday, May 17 we held our Annual General Meeting at the NOTL Community Centre. About 40 people attended the event. During the business portion we voted in favour of a By-law amendment adding the position of Vice President to our list of Directors. This position will give a member a year to get to know the workings of the Executive Board and then the following year to take on the position of President.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has stepped up to join our Executive Board for the next 12 months. The Board for 2023/24 is a mix of new and returning members. Our Executive Board members bring with them a variety of experiences and skills.  I especially wish to thank all of you who have worked with me over the past four years.  You made me look good.  You are all terrific!  Thanks.

As I step into the role of Past-President  I look forward to working closely with our new President and her Executive. At this time I would like to present to you the team that we have put together for July 2023 - June 2024.

Pauline Miller,

The NOTL Newcomers Club is for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil. Our goal is to welcome women who are new to the town, and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town has to offer residents.
Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and also to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, and want to become more involved in local life.
As a social club our goal is to help women who are new to the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, or who have had a significant life change to make new friends and participate in fun social activities.  Let's all hope that we will be able to have a busy year full of fun, social engagements and join a new interest group or participate in a new activity where we meet new people.
