President’s Message – May 2026

May is finally here – we have certainly had our fair share of April showers! Let’s hope the May flowers can survive these temperature shifts and the warm weather finds its way to us soon.

Our April outing to the Shaw Festival, touring the backstage, was a resounding success.

The group that went to the Bingo event had a blast, but sadly, no one won any money!

AGM- May 20 is our Annual General Meeting, being held at the Community Centre. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 1:00 pm.  We will review the past year: our accomplishments, our events, our group activities as well as a summary of the survey you all completed for our Programs team. There are some changes we hope to make next year, as a result of your responses.

We also need to vote to change 2 sections of our Bylaws –

1. remove the VP role and
2. Revise the length of the terms for Board positions.

We hope you will come out and vote. Please register online so we know our numbers for refreshments.

Our Board for next year is almost complete. We do need another person to help with the Newsletter, as a shared position and we need a PRESIDENT! The President needs to have had Board experience in the past, so they are familiar with how Newcomers works. To operate as a non-profit organization, we need to have the minimum of a President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
We can discuss this at the AGM – perhaps you know someone to nominate, who would like to move into this role?

Our Year End lunch is happening on June 17 at the Queenston Heights Restaurant. We love it there – the food is great, the venue is beautiful and we always enjoy ourselves. Registration is open on the website - please register early.

A reminder – Membership renewal is July 1 of each year.  Membership renewal is open now on the website – Please renew early – it allows us to accurately budget our funds for the coming year.

NOTL Newcomers

The NOTL Newcomers Club is a Social Club for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil.

Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, divorce, loss of a loved one or other life changes that have them wanting to become more involved in local life.

Our goal is to welcome women and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town and region has to offer residents.

We are a social club – we encourage our members to join a new interest group, participate in a new activity, or come to Coffee and Conversation and meet some new friends.
