President's Message - June 2021

I would like to thank the Executive Board members for all their efforts in keeping the Club going during these unprecedented times. We have been able to reach many of our members through our various virtual events.  I trust that you have enjoyed them as much as I have.  While we look forward to new adventures in the Fall, we will pause our monthly events over the summer after our June 15 event with Bill Redelmeier of Southbrook Winery.  Take time to get outside and enjoy the weather and meeting up outside with a friend.

NOTL Newcomers Coffee and Conversations

On the last Friday of each month we hold our Coffee and Conversation mornings. These friendly events are an opportunity to meet new members, connect with long time friends and catch up on the latest 'gossip'. To allow our members to catch up and socialize we have been holding theses events via Zoom.

Each month we try to have a topic which will help focus our discussions, although we rarely seem to have a problem filling the time!  These Zoom Chats will continue over the summer. Everyone is welcome to join.  The dates for this summer are:

  • June 25 - Great Places to Eat - Locally and in the Niagara Region
  • July 30 - Day Tripping and Local Activities and Fall Fairs
  • August 27 - Wineries/Breweries/Cideries/Distilleries and Self Care Tips and Suggestions

Membership Renewals

Your Executive Board has agreed to take an optimistic approach to returning to a somewhat 'normal' schedule of events for the Fall of 2021.  While we need to wait for Provincial Guidelines we feel that we will move to a more in-person program during the Fall.  Now is the time to think about renewing your membership for the 2021/22 year.  As you can imagine, while we have not met in person we still have incurred costs during the past year, such as honorariums, insurance, website and dues to the National Association. The Board has pro-rated membership dues for the 2021/22 year to $25 for the upcoming year and will return to the usual fee of $30 for 2022/23.

As of June 1 members will be able to renew their membership via this website following the steps on the JOIN page.  Members will be notified of their new membership number.  Membership cards will be distributed in the Fall.

Pauline Miller, President

The NOTL Newcomers Club is for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil. Our goal is to welcome women who are new to the town, and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town has to offer residents.
Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and also to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, and want to become more involved in local life.
