PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - September 2021

NOTL Newcomers continues to be here for all of its members.  During the past year and half we have been able to find creative ways to "get together" and continue socializing while staying safe.  As well, the Board reached out and undertook the use of technology to continue with our Coffee and Conversations and programming virtually.  Well done to those members who have ventured into new technology and have joined us and shared what they have been up to!

This year the Board is continuing to look at ways to reach out to members.  We are planning a hybrid program offering some in-person events and continuing to use technology when necessary. All Club activities will follow Provincial and Region Public Health Covid-19

NOTL Newcomers Coffee and Conversations

Our Coffee and Conversation events have been well received, especially with our newest members.  September and October dates will most likely be held outdoors and then as the weather turns colder we will need to move indoors or virtually.  Upcoming dates for Coffee and Conversations are:  September 24, October 29 (Halloween Theme), November 26 and December 17.  An email will be sent to members a few days prior to the event to confirm location.

Membership Renewals

Now is the time to think about renewing your membership for the 2021/22 year.  As you can imagine, while we have not met in person we still have incurred costs during the past year, such as honorariums, insurance, website and dues to the National Association. The Board has pro-rated membership dues for the 2021/22 year to $25 for the upcoming year and will return to the usual fee of $30 for 2022/23.

As of June 1 members were able to renew their membership via the website.  Members are reminded that September 30 is usually the last date to renew their membership for the upcoming year, we will extend this to October 31 this year.  Anyone wishing to renew and not use the website (i.e. pay by cheque) should email our Membership Director, Karin at winkyk999@hotmail.com for instructions. Members will be notified of their new membership number.  New Membership cards will be distributed in the Fall.   Members can also renew their membership in person at Coffee and Conversation events.

Pauline Miller, President

The NOTL Newcomers Club is for women who live in the Ontario municipality of Niagara-on-the-Lake, which includes Old Town, Glendale, Queenston, St. Davids and Virgil. Our goal is to welcome women who are new to the town, and to help them meet one another and discover everything our unique town has to offer residents.
Membership is open to women who have recently moved to Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) and also to women residents who have undergone a major change in their lives, such as retirement, and want to become more involved in local life.
